Services and Servers Overview

Termination

Call termination, from the customer perspective, is the process of placing a call. OnSIP provides VOIP Termination Service to its customers.

Origination

Call origination, from the customer perspective, is the process of receiving a call. OnSIP provides VOIP Origination Service to its customers.

Registration

Before a customer can receive a call originating from OnSIP, they must register contact information (where the call should be sent).

Separation of Services

Termination and Origination services are separated. The use of one service does not require the use of the other. A customer may place VOIP phone calls without having a phone number, or a customer may provide caller-id information on a per call basis. There is no requirement that a customer registers to place a call, and there is no requirement that a customer has to place calls in order to receive calls.

Servers

OnSIP provides two VOIP servers. Each server provides termination, orgination, and registration services. Calls originate from a server with which a customer is registered. Customers may utilize more than one server.
