Grandstream Wave Phone Review - September 2016 

Step 1: Gather information for each user

Each user has a set of credentials which will be needed to configure each phone. For each phone that you are configuring, obtain the following:

  • "SIP Address" (Address of Record)
  • "SIP Password"
  • "Auth Username"
  • "Username"
  • "Domain"
  • "Outbound Proxy"

You can find this information in the user detail pages under the "Users" tab in your OnSIP Admin Portal.

Step 2: Download Grandstream Wave from Apps

From the home screen, touch "App Store" --> "Search". Search for "Grandstream Wave", and download.

Step 3: Configure OnSIP Hosted PBX user account information.

When you start Grandstream Wave for the very first time, it should automatically take you to the "Settings" screen.  Click "Account Settings" then the "+" in the upper right of your screen and then "SIP Account":

Tap screen to enter in your credentials from Step 1 above, in the fields as follows (click to the far right of the field to get the text edit option) (hit the "shift" {up arrow} key on the iphone to lower-case the first letter):

  • Account Name > Whatever you'd like
  • SIP Server > "Domain"
  • SIP User ID > "Username"
  • SIP Authentication ID > "Auth Username"
  • Password > "SIP Password"
  • Display Name > Your Choice

Step 4: Editing Your Grandstream Wave Account

Click on the name of your newly created account to access additional settings.

Step 5: Call Settings / Dial Plan

Slide to "off" position for "DialPlan Settings". If this is enabled you can not transfer calls. 

Step 6: SIP Settings

  • Select "Unregister Before New Registration"
  • Change to "Do Not Unregister", save

Step 7: Configure Network Settings

  • Select "Outbound Proxy" > "sip.onsip.com"
  • "DNS Mode" > "SRV"

Step 8: Configure Codec Settings

Select "Preferred Vocoder" > "Wifi" > place checkmark next to all of the following:

  • PCMU
  • PCMA
  • G722
  • iLBC
  • GSM

Select the checkmark in upper right to save settings.

Select "Preferred Vocoder" > "2G/3G/4G" > see above steps for Wifi

         

Note- Grandstream Wave will not work over AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile on IoS, as their data networks are solely IPv6.
